Pharmaceuticals Announces Promotion of Niranjan Y. Sardesai,Ph.D.,
to Vice President of Product Development

VGX Pharmaceuticals today announced the promotion of
Niranjan Y. Sardesai, Ph.D., to Vice President of Product Development.
Dr. Sardesai has been serving as the Senior Director of Product Development.
Since joining VGX in 2006, Dr. Sardesai has been a member of the senior
management team overseeing VGX’s pre-clinical activities and managing
strategic planning and development alliances across industry and academia.
“Niranjan has provided VGX with critical strategic and technical
leadership in meeting our development milestones,” said Dr. Joseph
Kim, CEO and President. “With his strong credentials and knowledge
of our company, we look forward to Niranjan taking on a greater role in
executing our strategic plan for transforming VGX into a leading global
biopharmaceuticals company,” added Dr. Kim. “As a member of
our executive management team, he will continue to contribute in his exceptional
strategic capacity as well as assuming the additional operational role
of guiding VGX’s growth through identifying and managing acquisition
transactions.”
Dr. Sardesai is an experienced veteran of the biotechnology industry,
with a special focus in R&D and Management of Technology. Prior to
joining VGX, Dr. Sardesai was the President of Nvision Consulting, Inc.
He also served as the Director of R&D and Director of Applied Research
at Fujirebio Diagnostics, Inc. At Fujirebio, Dr. Sardesai oversaw all
aspects of the company’s R&D activities, with a special focus
on new product development. Prior to Fujirebio, he worked as a Senior
Scientist at IGEN International, Inc.
Dr. Sardesai received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from California Institute of
Technology and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sardesai also completed post-doctoral
fellowships at the Scripps Research Institute and the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. Dr. Sardesai graduated at the top of his class to receive
his M. Sc. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology.
